Barney Kenny is a West Country troubadour cut from proper rootsy cloth, blending vivid storytelling with foot-stomping delta blues and raw, honest folk. Based in Cornwall but rarely standing still, his songs feel road-worn and lived-in, stitched together with grit, groove, and soul.Equally at home on acoustic guitar or coaxing ghostly tones from a Weissenborn lapsteel, Barney’s sound slides effortlessly between folk, blues, roots, and rock, carried by a voice that favours character over polish every time.
A seasoned live performer, he’s toured extensively — solo, as part of his duo Tamar, and alongside collaborator Chris Murphy — and has shared stages with the likes of Seth Lakeman. Releases including The Minstrel Boy EP and the live-in-session album The Seaton Tapes capture the spirit of an artist who thrives on the energy of a room and the power of a well-told tale.
