Live Arts Maryland is proud to launch its Musical Theater Summer Intensive, a week-long immersive experience designed for middle and high school students who are passionate about singing, acting, and performing. This program brings together aspiring young performers and professional artists—including current and former Broadway performers—for a dynamic week of training, collaboration, and performance.

Throughout the week, students will engage in focused training across the core disciplines of musical theater, including vocal technique, acting through song, and movement. Participants will work closely with experienced teaching artists and guest Broadway professionals in both group and small-group settings, receiving individualized coaching and feedback designed to support their growth as performers.

A central feature of the program will be direct engagement with professional artists. Live Arts Maryland anticipates featuring guest teaching artists such as Ella Green (Nashville Theater School), Raissa Katona Bennett (Christine Daae in Phantom of the Opera on Broadway on Broadway), Bernard Dotson (Broadway Actor), and others. These artists will lead masterclasses, coach repertoire, and share insights into the audition process and professional life in musical theatre, offering students a rare and inspiring connection to the industry.

Each day is structured to balance skill development and creative application. Mornings will focus on technique and foundational training, while afternoons will be dedicated to rehearsal and collaborative work as students prepare material for a final showcase performance. Emphasis will be placed on ensemble building, confidence, and storytelling, ensuring that each student feels both challenged and supported.

The intensive will culminate in a public performance on Friday, June 26, where students will share selections of solos, small group numbers, and full ensemble pieces for family, friends, and members of the community. This performance will highlight the work accomplished throughout the week and celebrate the creativity and dedication of each participant.

As part of Live Arts Maryland’s commitment to accessibility and community engagement, a limited number of need-based scholarships will be available to ensure that students from a variety of backgrounds can participate.

The Musical Theater Summer Intensive reflects Live Arts Maryland’s broader mission to create meaningful artistic opportunities, connect emerging talent with professional artists, and strengthen the performing arts community in Annapolis and the surrounding region.

The Live Arts Studio is located on the Bestgate Road side of Annapolis Mall. Use the main entrance between Offenbacher's and The Container Store, turn left at the main corridor, and we are located on the right hand side of the hallway next to Loft.
