Dance performances by Rachel George, Vilia Bouilly, Rachel Duff, and Janelle Rodriguez.
Janelle Dance and Salimpour School of Dance are proud to present an evening of live Arabic music and dance. The Georges Lammam Ensemble will present classic to modern pop Arabic music for our performers and open floor dancing. There will be dance performances by top dancers from the Salimpour School and plenty of open floor dancing, so bring your dancing feet and hips.
We are excited to have special guest vendors "My Morocco Travel" bringing treasures from their recent trip to Morocco. My Morocco Travel is owned and operated by Mohamed and Misty Aoualou.

About the dancers:
Rachel George
Beginning her belly dance career in 1994, Rachel has become an extremely sought after performer and instructor. Rachel is one of the highest certified dancers in the world in the Salimpour™ formats. A perpetual student of movement art, this Level 5 certified dancer is a multi-award winning performer and teaches workshops and classes worldwide. Based in Southern California, Rachel is San Diego’s number one premier belly dance entertainment highlight. She illustrates her incomparable musical interpretation, which is rooted in a great understanding of Middle Eastern cultural history and dance movement, through her strong technique and isolation strength. Rachel’s performances are fantastically radiant, full of style and grace accompanied by her uniquely captivating personality.
Vilia Bouilly
Vilia is an award winning Middle Eastern dance performer, director, choreographer and instructor based in San Diego, California. She currently holds Level 5 teaching certifications in the Jamila and Suhaila Salimpour dance formats and has been honored to perform with the legendary Bal Anat as well as twice with Jillina’s Belly Dance Evolution. She is Artistic Director of the multi-award winning Arabina Dance Company and has been a featured instructor/performer at dance festivals in Belgium, Mexico and Las Vegas.
Rachel Duff
Rachel has been dancing since the age of 16, and moved to the Bay Area in 2005 at the age of 18 to study with Suhaila Salimpour. She has performed both locally and worldwide with The Suhaila Dance Company and Bal Anat over the past 16 years, and has performed solo a lot over that span of time as well. She never considers her dance education and growth complete, and considers dance a joyful evolutionary process that unfolds over a lifetime. She is also a professional Photographer and Photoshop Artist, which often overlaps with the dance world.
Janelle Rodriguez
Janelle has been teaching dance in Santa Cruz for nearly 2 decades. She has owned Desert Dream Dance Studio in Santa Cruz since 2008, and founded the dance company and music ensemble, "Desert Dream Music and Dance Company" in 2002. Passionate about dance study, Janelle received her Salimpour School Teaching 1 certification (formerly Suhaila Salimpour Level 5) in 2020 and is currently working on her Teaching 2(formerly Jamila Salimpour Level 5) certificate. She also teaches barre and pilates. Her thriving studio, Desert Dream Dance, has survived and expanded during the pandemic. Georges Lammam, of Palestinian descent, born in Beirut, Lebanon is a solo violinist exemplifying the Arab style of instrumental improvisation. A recording artist, composer and artistic director for the Georges Lammam Ensemble, Georges is a featured artist in other musical groups – Ancient Future, Wobbly World, Shabazz and Pena Pacha Mama Group. In collaboration with Gabriel Navia, (Spanish guitar) Hola-Yallah! –a Latin Arabian Duo was born to fuse musical styles and idioms, giving new expression to classic pieces from both cultures and to create original new music.
Mr. Lammam, as an artistic emissary brings Arab arts and his cultural heritage to fore in supporting Palestine – both the culture and the people. His music has enhanced and supported the work of arts and philanthropic non-profits in support of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.
His compositions and performance excerpts are included in scores for two award-winning documentaries: “Occupation 101” and “Tea on the Axis of Evil”, and he recorded a well-known folkloric debke in a 2016 feature film, “Wrestling Jerusalem” by Aaron Davidman. Mr. Lammam’s five CD discography is available at Itunes, CDbaby and Amazon. A new recording is nearing completion to be available in 2023.
