THE HOPEFUL THEATRE PROJECT
“This timeless, captivating story is brought to life in this glorious musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love…Based on Louisa May Alcott's life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.”
$15 of every $20 ticket will go towards Girls Write Now and their mission of breaking down barriers of gender, race, age, and poverty to mentor and train the next generation of writers and leaders for life. Together, [their] community channels the power of our voices and stories to shape culture, impact industries, and inspire change.

Auditions will be Monday, September 23rd and Tuesday, September 24th from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Video auditions will be accepted until Tuesday, September 24th at 10:00 pm. Late submissions will not be considered.
Callbacks will be by invitation only and held Wednesday, September 25th from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
AUDITIONS: Please schedule an audition prior to Tuesday, September 24th. Audition slots are 5 mins each and located at Mainstage 222 (222 E Irving Blvd Irving, TX 75060). Callbacks will be held at the same location.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
*Please arrive 15 min early to get parked and signed in
*Dress professionally
*Bring a current headshot and resume.
*Bring list of conflicts from September 28, 2024 - October 26, 2024. Conflicts during tech week and performances will not be accepted.
*Two contrasting 32 bar cuts (or 60 second cuts) in the style of the show. Bring sheet music properly marked and in the desired key. An accompanist will be provided.

VIDEO AUDITIONS: We are accepting video auditions. Please submit your video audition by Tuesday, September 24th at 10:00 pm to be considered. Late submissions will not be accepted.

PRODUCTION & REHEARSAL INFO –
*Performance Dates: November 1-10, 2024. 6 performances.
*Location: Mainstage 222 in Irving, TX
*Rehearsals will begin Saturday, September 28th and will be held at Dana’s Dance Academy in Irving, TX. Rehearsals will typically run Monday-Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal.
*Tech week begins at Mainstage 222 on Saturday, October 26th with a Designer Run.
The Hopeful Theatre Project seeks diverse performers, including but not limited to: ethnicity, race, color, country of origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, body size, marital status, adults of all ages, religion, beliefs, political affiliations, socioeconomic status, experiences, and any form of disability.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Jo March
Lead, Adult, Vocal Range: Mezzo Soprano, E3 - A5
Our story's protagonist. Passionate, adventurous, and brave. She has the idea of writing Little Women and eventually becomes engaged to Professor Bhaer. Will kiss Laurie Laurence and Professor Bhaer onstage.
Meg March
Lead, Adult, Vocal Range: Soprano, A#3 - Gb5
The world-weary, yet hopeful, oldest sister who yearns for a great life. She marries John and has twins with him. Will double as Clarissa in Jo’s stories. Will kiss Mr. John Brooke onstage.
Beth March
Lead, Teen/Adult, Vocal Range: Lyrical Soprano, A3 - G5
The second youngest sister who tragically dies of Scarlet Fever. Peace-maker, lover, and an optimist who is always encouraging her sisters to dream. Will double as Rodrigo II in Jo’s stories.
Amy March
Lead, Teen/Adult, Vocal Range: Mezzo Soprano, -1 - Gb5
The youngest, most energetic sister with a rather pompous air about her. She later marries Laurie. Will double as the Troll in Jo’s stories.
Marmee March
Supporting, Adult, Vocal Range: Alto, Eb3 - Eb5
The girls' mother. She is the strong backbone of the family, who is courageous in spite of the difficult odds she faces.
Laurie Laurence
Supporting, Adult, Vocal Range: Tenor, Bb2 - Bb4
The bright-eyed boy-next-door with considerable charm. He loves Jo but later falls in love with Amy. Will double as Rodrigo in Jo’s stories. Will kiss Jo March onstage.
Professor Bhaer
Supporting, Adult, Vocal Range: Baritone, G2 - F#4
German Professor who exemplifies proper manners. He is a boarder in Mrs. Kirk's boarding house and eventually falls in love with Jo. Will kiss Jo March onstage.
Aunt March
Featured, Adult, Vocal Range: Alto, E3 - F5
A formidable, overbearing matron and great-aunt to the March sisters. The wealthy socialite in town. Will double as the Hag in Jo’s stories.
Mr. John Brooke
Featured, Adult, Vocal Range: Tenor, C#3 - F#4
Laurie's tutor and a rather stiff man; shows very little emotion. He later marries Meg and changes. Will double as Braxton in Jo’s stories. Will kiss Meg March onstage.
Mr. Laurence
Featured, Adult, Vocal Range: Baritone, D3 - D4
Laurie’s grandfather. Stern, patrician, and straight-laced. Eventually forms a sweet and meaningful friendship with Beth March and gives her a piano as a surprise. Will double as the Knight in Jo’s stories.
Mrs. Kirk
Featured, Adult, Vocal Range: Alto, Eb3 - Eb5
The owner of the boarding house in New York where Jo works and Professor Bhaer lives. Will understudy Marmee March and Aunt March.
Female Role Swing
Adult, Vocal Range: Alto/Mezzo Soprano/Soprano
Incredibly important to the success of our production. Will understudy the following roles: Jo March, Meg March, Beth March, Amy March, Mrs. Kirk and swing in when/if necessary during rehearsals and performances. Will act as a stagehand during tech week and performances if not swinging for a role listed prior. May kiss male roles onstage.
Male Role Swing
Adult, Vocal Range: Tenor/Baritone
