About this Event
Join us on an afternoon as we saunter the streets of Little Tokyo in the heart of Los Angeles. We will begin our adventure at the center of the largest Japanese-American population in North America. DTLA's Little Tokyo features a breath taking array of Japanese-American run shops and restaurants.
Founded in 1905, the Japanese Americans ran a vegetable trade due to Japanese American run farms across Southern California. After the World War II internment, many Japanese Americans lost everything they owned.
We will visit the Japanese American National Museum, the corner of which, Japanese Americans boarded buses to be sent to internment camps. There is also the MOCA modern art museum extension. Next we will stroll through the village plaza where the founder of the ever so popular Mochi Ice Cream shop resides. Our tour will also include a visit the Koyasan Buddhist Temple. Next we will visit the Astronaut Onizuka Memorial with the Space Shuttle Challenger Monument. We will conclude our tour with a visit the rooftop Kyoto Gardens. Join us on an afternoon filled with lots of history, culture, food and fun!
