About this Event

Yes it might seem early… but Christmas is only round the corner!

What better way to start getting festive than to enjoy time with your Little Stitcher making two beautiful hand sewn Christmas gifts.

Join me in a relaxed, friendly environment where they will make a Christmas tree bag and a Stocking, which can be given to a loved one, friend, teacher or even keep as a gift to yourself! If your child already knows the sewing basics, but would LOVE to learn a new, festive project- then this is the workshop for them!

As well as starting to get you into the festive mood, your child will build on their current sewing skills, creativity and confidence whilst having fun! They don’t need to be experts as we shall go through the steps together, but it’s beneficial if they’ve used a sewing machine before or have completed the Little Stitches: Beginner Workshop.

Learning in a small and relaxed group (max. 6 children), where no question is too silly to ask, but encouraged. Our experienced tutor, Hannah, will guide them through step by step with hands on instructions/ demos and lots of encouragement, to ensure a fun and safe learning experience for all. Most items will be pre-cut to allow maximum fun sewing time.

This workshop is suitable for children age 8+

What will my child learn?

In this 2 hour workshop your child will…

- Learn how to sew a lined Christmas Stocking.

- Learn how to sew a lined Christmas Tree Bag, with a draw string opening.

- Learn and developing new sewing skills (considering…pivoting, seam allowance, right/ wrong side of fabric and control of the machine).

- Build creativity and confidence in using a sewing machine and fabric manipulation.

…Both projects to take home and keep OR give away as a beautiful hand crafted Christmas gift!

Sewing can be a wonderful creative outlet for a child. It can develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem solving & confidence.

Sewing can teach kids that with patience, effort and creativity they can achieve their goals - an invaluable life lesson.

There’s something magical about seeing a child’s face light up after completing a project they have made all by themselves.

What to bring:

You will need to bring a sewing machine that’s in good working order….

(We do now have ONE sewing machine which is available to higher for a small charge if you don’t have one).

Everything else will be provided including fabric, a drink and a snack if desired.

Collection/ drop off

There will be two of us on site who are both DBS checked, so carers can either drop off and collect promptly at the end of the workshop. Or if you feel your child would benefit from extra support from yourself you are welcome to stay. There are local coffee shops near by.

Disclamer:

Please note upon booking this workshop you accept the risk of your child using the following equipment:
