Little Stitches: Notebook Cover & Bunting
About this Event
Notebook Cover & Bunting Workshop
If your child already knows the basics, but would LOVE to learn a new project and continue their sewing journey to build their confidence and creativity, then this is the perfect workshop for them!
Join our experienced tutor Hannah on a journey where your child will get to create their own unique notebook cover and string of bunting in a friendly, creative environment.
Learning in a small and relaxed group (max. 6 children), where no question is to silly to ask, but encouraged. Hannah will guide them through step by step with hands on instructions/ demos and lots of encouragement, to ensure a fun and safe learning experience for all. Most items will be pre-cut to allow maximum sewing time.
This workshop is perfect for children who already know the basics/how to set up a sewing machine or who have completed the Little Stitches: Beginner Workshop.
Sewing can be a wonderful creative outlet for a child. It can develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem solving & confidence.
Sewing can teach kids that with patience, effort and creativity they can achieve their goals - an invaluable life lesson.
There’s something magical about seeing a child’s face light up after completing a project they have made all by themselves.
This workshop is suitable for children age 8+
What will my child learn?
In this 2 hour workshop your child will
- Learn how to sew a notebook cover - which is a fantastic beginner project for a child. It’s straightforward enough to prevent overwhelming frustration, but it introduces enough design to feel like challenge.
- Learn how to create a string of bunting - which is another great starter project for a child. It involves repetitive, clear steps and acts as a fantastic vehicle for building both physical coordination and cognitive skills.
- Learning and developing new sewing skills (considering…pivoting, seam allowance, right/ wrong side of fabric and control of the machine)
.…both to take home and enjoy!
What to bring:
You will need to bring a sewing machine that’s in good working order….(We do now have ONE sewing machine which is available to higher for a small charge if you don’t have one).
Everything else will be provided including fabric, a drink and a snack if desired.
