About Little 'A' and the Allnighters
The year 2016 brings this band to it's fourth generation of first call players. The year was 2005 when Art Martel makes some phone calls to bring three long time musician friends together to Jam for a first time and support Lil A. The outcome was amazing, only problem is the drummer never showed , he was called out last minute for a pay gig. So instead of Alan West on drums Alex ask's AJ Martel to sit-in and be a part of this one time get together. The other musicians were Eddie Ventura -G, Norm Gonzales-B, a 4 piece band. A 90 minute set was underway. There was already wonderful chemistry. Alex,Eddie and Norm agree to get together in the new year. 2006 rolls around and AJ gets a call from Alex to be a part of this Special Project, he accepts the invitation. Also added to the original line-up is Joe Conde-G, now the band has an even more aggressive two guitar attack. The original line-up last's one year, Eddie Ventura leaves the band and Anthony Contreras fills the position of second guitar. In 2010 what the band thought would be a demo CD just to get gigs turns into a full length CD recorded in one day with six single takes and two double takes, we also make it to sell @ The 2010 Road To The battle Of The BluesHarps Competition the band places 4th out of 16 Southern California Bands. The year 2011 rolls around and another original member leaves the band. Our Bass player Norm Gonzales gets a call to play Bass in The Mighty Flyers! He is replaced by Kenny Huff. The rest of the year the band back's up RJ Mischo, Mitch Kashmar, Johnny Dyer, and Juke Logan, just to name a few. 2012 comes around and the band is asked to open The 15th annual Doheny Blues Festival. 2013 rolls around and Joe Conde leaves the band after 20 years of contant playing to raise a family, Bill Bates is his replacement. Two disabilities set back the band Aj leaves due to a work injury as well as Kenny huff. Kenny is replaced by Arthur Kraatz, the drum throne has many sit ins but the more constant player is Ron Felton. AJ makes it back for half a dozen gigs then is called back to work. in 2015 Lil A has to take a hiatus and we lose Anthony Contreras, filling AC's spot is Geoff Gurrolla. 2016 Lil A is invited to do a series of shows with BB and the BluesShacks, while in Gemany he also sit-in with Till Siedel Band, Nico Du Portal and the Rhythm Dudes, and also played on stage during a Bonita and the Blues Shacks set. Also in 2016 the band has reestablished itself with 2 rotation rooms both in San Gabriel Valley as well as private events.
