Join us for an exciting SOS ART-sponsored and led workshop at the Cincinnati Art Club! Explore the fascinating connection between literature and art in this in-person event. Engage with and learn from workshop instructor and renowned artist Jamie Schorsch and gain insights into her creative process. The Cincinnati Art Club thanks SOSART for their collaborations with the Club. This concept, might just become a Club "SIG" (Special Interest Group), requiring prior participation in a course like this or similar courses on this topic or experience with translating words to images.
REGISTER early as there is limited seating! Walk-ins will not be permitted. There is a $15.00 charge for this course. We intend to refund $10.00 per registration, during the class, unless you prefer that the fee be retained by the club who will donate it to SOSART. There is no refund if you do not attend and did not cancel a week before the class is to start. We urge you to cancel a week before, with no explanation necessary and a full refund will be issued
Artist Biography
Jamie Schorsch is an accomplished educator and artist, holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Arts in Art Education from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning. Additionally, she earned a Master of Education in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment with a Certification in Teacher Leadership from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services.
With extensive experience teaching students ranging from age 5 to adults, Schorsch has been involved with several institutions, including the Art Academy of Cincinnati, The Fitton Center for Creative Arts, Tiger Lily Press, ArtWorks, StreetSpark, and Cincinnati Public Schools. For the past 19 years, she has been a dedicated educator in the Oak Hills Local School District, where she currently chairs the Art and Design Department at Oak Hills High School. Under her guidance, her students have earned numerous accolades at both regional and national levels.
Schorsch serves on the SOS ART Board and coordinates the SOS ART Youth Exhibition. An active member of the Ohio Art Education Association, she holds the positions of Secondary Division Chair and Regional Director for Southwest Ohio, through which she focuses on building community and developing resources in collaboration with art teachers from throughout the state.
An award-winning artist, Schorsch regularly participates in regional and national exhibitions and has been featured in numerous publications. Her artwork spans various media, including painting, printmaking, and mixed media, often exploring themes of identity, community, and social justice. During the summer, she contributes to the artistic landscape of the Greater Cincinnati area by designing and painting murals, infusing public spaces with vibrant, thought-provoking art that engages and inspires the community.
