The significance of the late “rebel writer,” tormentor of colonial rulers and post-colonial self-enrichers, cannot be overstated. During the Boekenclub we will show footage of Marechera who is ecstatic with joy, but is soon angered by the mess and poverty in the capital city Harare. We listen to Marechera expert Tinashe Mushakavanhu, who comes over from London especially for our session. Wim Bossema talks about his encounter with the writer in the 1980s.
