About this Event
Knowing what research says about how students learn to read is one thing. Building the practices, professional learning, resources, and systems that bring that research to life across a district is another.
Join a small group of Chicago-area education leaders for dinner and a candid conversation about what effective literacy implementation looks like in practice.
Led by Greg Wolcott, former superintendent, author, and longtime Illinois education leader, the evening will connect the science of reading with the science of learning—and explore what district leaders can do to turn research into meaningful results for students.
Together, we'll discuss:
- What fellow district leaders are learning about what’s working, what’s challenging, and what they’re changing
- How to build stronger, more connected literacy systems from Pre-K through grade 12
- How to recognize and address the gaps between strong literacy plans and classroom implementation
This isn't a presentation followed by Q&A. It's an opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas with other Illinois educators, and leave with practical ways to strengthen literacy practices across your district.
