Lions, Leopards, & Libations

Join us for an evening to raise money for conservation work in Tembe Elephant Park in South Africa. In collaborationwith Katie Adamson Conservation Fund, Custom Trails, and Kansas City Zoo AAZK Chapter,this fundraiser includes a talk from Chris Beukes from Tembe Elephant Park, a short documentary, silent auction,raffle items, artwork from animals at the Kansas City Zoo, and of course delicious cocktails from Lifted Spirits Distillery!See below for more information about the conservation work:

• Tembe Elephant Park is a 300km2nature reserve located in the Republic of South Africa between Kwa-Zulu Natal and Mozambique. Tembe Elephant Park is the ancestral home of the Tembe Tribe who own and co-manage the park. The Tembe people are deeply committed to wildlife conservation on their land and work as a community to preserve the area.
• Custom Trails, with support from the Katie Adamson Conservation Fund (both wildlife conservation organizations), are working to monitor and manage the animals that live on the reserve. Some main methods for monitoring are through camera traps and radio collars which allow conservationists to track their locations via telemetry. Both methods provide critical data on the animals' behaviors and social dynamics. Knowing their locations helps reduce poaching and human-wildlife conflict in the area, helping to keep both the animals and community members of the local tribe safe.

Please note this event is for adults only (21+). Save money and purchase your ticket ahead of time for $12, otherwise admission at the door will be $15. All of the ticket proceeds will go towards supporting big cat conservation.

7-8:30 PM: Social Hour, Silent Auctions, and Raffle

8:30-9:30 PM: Presentation including talk from Chris Beukes & short documentary screening

9:30-10:00PM: Announce raffle winners, closing remarks, and check-out for silent auction items
