Join artist and printmaker Ian Halawi for a Lino cutting workshop. Ian Halawi is an artist based in Blackburn with a studio at Prism contemporary. He has many years experience of running printmaking workshops with various organisations such as the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, The Royal Horticultural Society and The National Festival of Making. A lot of his work is inspired by nature and this shows with a graphic illustrative style that shows in his relief prints.
In this 2 hour workshop with Ian, you’ll learn the basics of Lino printing, carving from a piece of lino and print your own illustration print using hand burnishing techniques
No prior experience is necessary as all skills levels are welcome and everything you need for print making will be provided.
What you’ll be doing:
-You will working on a piece of lino
-Planning your design
-Transferring your design
-Carving your design
-Inking up your block
-Printing your design using hand burnishing techniques.
There will be various images for inspiration but feel free to bring along your own sketches or ideas. Aprons will be available for people to wear but it is also recommend that you wear some old clothes you don’t mind getting ink on. Hope to see you there.
This workshop is primarily for adults, but is open to ages 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).
The cafe will be open for drinks & cake.
Please use the accessible entrance to the rear of the building.
