About LinkedIn Local

#LinkedInLocal is a meetup concept in over 800 cities world wide. It was created with the purpose to unite people from all walks of life, in one facilitated event, to genuinely get to know the humans behind the LinkedIn profiles, and connect beyond the job titles, business cards and company names. These events are curated to bring our tribes together and remind ourselves why it's important to connect out of the digital world. How our job titles, degrees and backgrounds are just a fraction of who we are and that we have the capacity to be more and to do more when surrounded by the right people.

What to Expect at This Event

Join us for an exclusive sunset sail aboard the Sigsbee! Enjoy an intimate networking and community building experience on the Baltimore harbor. Learn the art of sailing with Captain LP and crew and hear about Maritime STEM Education from President & CEO of Living Classrooms Foundation, James Bond. Our friends from The Local Oyster will also be on board to share details about their work with Oyster Recovery Partnership and saving the bay, one oyster shell at a time!

Originally built in 1901, Sigsbee served in the oystering fleet for 88 years. After Living Classrooms Foundation (LCF) acquired the vessel in 1990, a team of shipwrights and students rebuilt Sigsbee and returned her to work as part of the Foundation’s educational fleet. Sigsbee sails daily as a “living classroom,” offering students unique hands-on opportunities to observe and learn about the history, economics, and ecology of the Chesapeake Bay and to participate in environmental restoration projects.

Once numbering in the thousands, only a handful of skipjacks survive today. Together, they constitute the last sailing commercial fleet in North America.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to Living Classrooms Foundation Maritime STEM Education program.

Can't attend but still want to donate? Select "0" tickets at checkout, and enter your donation amount in the "Donation to Support LCF Maritime STEM" field.
