About this Event

The year-long strike movement that began last summer has been an inspiration. Unions have been fighting for pay increases that workers deserve, to beat the cost-of-living crisis.

The fighting unions have seen their memberships jump, and their campaigns have generated new levels of activism inside branches and local communities.

But there are problems. National pay offers are still well below the national rate of inflation. This is especially true with respect to food prices and for other basic goods.

National leaders come under enormous pressures to settle for less than they should, and we have already seen offers rejected by the memberships of some unions such as NEU and RCN.

At this meeting we will be discussing the successes of the strike movement, but also some of the challenges we face as activists inside our respective trade unions.

Come along to this important event, and participate in the urgent debates inside the strike movement.

The meeting will be followed by entertainment, music and socialising with fellow trade unionists.

Speakers: Saira Weiner, Branch Secretary, LJMU UCU and UCU national executive; Tracy Scott, RCN member, NHS Workers Say No; Sarah Morton, DWP PCS Liverpool Rep.
