a performance to celebrate the summer solstice: Line in Time.
As we move from winter and spring into summer, we are nourished by warmth, sunlight, and abundant growth. In this performance the music, movement, costumes, art installation, and location come together to express the energy of the summer sun, our cyclical movement through time, and the role of balance in the seasons we live through.
May the wind feel soft against your skin, the dance be a blessing to your eyes, and this line in time bring beauty and joy.
Collaborators:
tbd. dancers have been dreaming of a safe and beautiful dance surface to protect our bones and joints from impact during our performances. With a call to our prop designer, Kevin Bullis, the portable stage project began! The performance will happen on top of a newly constructed, modular stage which will be placed on the grass at the center of the park surrounded by hills and trees.
Visual artist Joelle Wellansa Sandfort has created an art installation that will be displayed hanging above the stage during the performance.
MORE INFO + PARKING
WHERE TO SIT: The audience is encouraged to sit in the grass facing the stage and up on the hills surrounding the "dance bowl" where the stage will sit. There will be no seating provided for this performance, so please bring your own. We recommending arriving early in order to choose your seating location and get set up.
WHAT TO BRING: Audience members should bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs to sit on while viewing the performance. Since it will officially be summer and bugs will be out doing their thing, plan accordingly!
WHERE TO PARK: Parking is available just west of Bemis Park, in the Salvation Army parking lot, as well as on the street near the park. A diagram is included to help familiarize audience members with how to access the space.
WHAT TO EXPECT: The performance will be between 40 and 45 minutes in length and will begin around 7:00pm, possibly a few minutes after if folks are still trickling in/finding parking. Recorded music will be played through a sound system, set up near the stage. We are anticipating anywhere from 100 - 200 audience members.
