About the Instructor
Danny Cardoso is an emerging printmaking artist based in Toronto who graduated in 2020 from OCAD University with a BFA. Their art practice focuses on constructing large scale, print-based installations with visual narratives hidden in patterns. The use of patterning comes from a strong connection to Portuguese tile work (“Azulejos”), and how their history fits into his life. Through intensive research of historical archives in the Iberian Peninsula, as well as family history, Danny combine the visual patterns of “Azulejos” with contemporary themes of Queerness, mental health, and identity, while simultaneously pushing the limits on what contemporary print work can be.
