Join the UH Center for Public History and the Sharing Stories from 1977 project for the Houston debut of, Lilly, a dramatic feature film, starring Patricia Clarkson about the true story of an Alabama tire factory worker who fought against years of pay discrimination, and whose case ultimately resulted in the 2009 Fair Pay Act.

Featuring a special talk back panel after the screening with Stephanie Tsuru (co-founder of SheSpace), Kelly (Kleinkort) Montes (Executive Director, Catalyst), Dr. Chinhui Juhn (Henry Graham​​ Professor of Economics, University of Houston) and Dr. Nancy Beck Young (John and Rebecca Moores Professor of History, University of Houston)

Lilly is a dramatic feature film starring Patricia Clarkson, John Benjamin Hickey and Thomas Sadoski, about an Alabama tire factory worker who fights for justice after 20 years of being mistreated and cheated by the company. An emotional journey of heartbreak and euphoria, Lilly is the story of an ordinary woman who stands up to powerful corporate and political forces, underscoring the impact a single, courageous person can have on society.

Based on the remarkable life of Lilly Ledbetter, directed by Rachel Feldman, Lilly won BEST of the FEST at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival and was awarded the Anti Defamation League’s STAND UP AWARD at the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival. LILLY will be released theatrically this Spring.
