About this Event
To coincide with the publication of in paperback, Pooleyville is delighted to welcome Liliane Lijn back to Milton Keynes for this special event. Lilian Lijn will read extracts from her memoir, followed by a Q&A with Dr Ellie Brown, and a book signing.
Lijn (b. 1939) is a pioneering kinetic artist, writer, and sculptor, born in New York, known for integrating science, eastern philosophy, and mythology with industrial materials to explore light, energy, and the female form, notably through early kinetic text works and iconic 'Koan' sculptures.
After studying in Paris, she settled in London in 1966, becoming a key figure in kinetic art by creating moving light sculptures and large-scale installations, reflecting themes of technology, spirituality, and feminism in her diverse, multi-disciplinary practice. Lijn is also responsible for some of MK’s most iconic public sculptures - Circle of Light (The Centre:MK) and Light Pyramid (Campbell Park).
Supported by x+why & MK City Council as part of the Look Again programme.
