Like a Plant: Meditation + Breathing

Start the new year taking time to reconnect to your breath, find your center, and recall your connection with the natural world. Join yoga and meditation teacher and plant-lover Jess Mack for a creative series of guided mindfulness sessions amidst the fresh air of Merrihew's Sunset Gardens Nursery in Ocean Park, Santa Monica. We'll meet in the classroom area near the chicken coop.

Each Sunday will focus on a different plant-related theme, opening with a brief talk that explores inspiring plant facts and revelations which will create the container for guided meditation and breathing together. Walk away with a greater sense of calm and presence, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world we inhabit. Novice and experienced meditators alike are welcome! All that is required is a sense of openness, curiosity, and a desire to connect to self and natural world.

- Space is limited to ensure an intimate environment.

- We'll be meditating on backless benches covered with a thin layer of blanket, but please feel free to bring a blanket or pillow to sit on if that will be more comfortable for you.

- Please let us know if you have any accessibility issues we can work to accommodate .

- Hot tea will be served at the close.

Jess Mack is a writer and creative based in Santa Monica. She is a certified mindfulness instructor, registered yoga teacher, and Buddhist practitioner. Plants, trees, and the natural world have been central in her ongoing journey to be more present, grounded, and joyful. She often weaves these themes into her classes and workshops, and is passionate about creating space where people can reconnect to themselves and the natural world. Learn more about Jess.

Merrihew's Sunset Gardens has been a staple of the LA westside community for more than 75 years. They carry a large variety of indoor houseplants, veggies, herbs, fruit trees/vines, succulents & cactus, CA natives, Australia natives, South African natives, annuals, perennials, and many more! They provide a living space for various community events.
