Lightworkers: Screening & Community Discussion
About this Event
“What can I do?”
The answer will not look the same for everyone.
LIGHTWORKERS reminds us that change does not come with a single blueprint. Each person brings their own experiences, talents, voice, and opportunities to make a difference.
- Some people create.
- Some people teach.
- Some people organize.
- Some people simply show up for someone who needs them.
There is no one-size-fits-all way to care.
The first step is asking the question.

Directed by veteran filmmaker Bobby Roth (Lost, Pr*son Break, Grey’s Anatomy), Lightworkers is a documentary about ordinary citizens and prominent figures who refuse to stand on the sidelines during times of political uncertainty and division.
The film frames its core focus around a simple, urgent question:
"What can I actually do?"
Rather than following a traditional narrative line or focusing on party politics, Lightworkers operates as a mosaic of personal stories. Roth interviews a cross-section of over 30 everyday activists, public servants, and notable figures—including musician Tom Morello, actors Henry Winkler and Peter Coyote, artist Shepard Fairey, and former Congressman Adam Kinzinger.
Why You Should Watch It
- It’s Action-Oriented, Not Exhausting: Political and social documentary content often leaves audiences feeling helpless or overwhelmed. Lightworkers takes the opposite approach, focusing heavily on solutions, personal agency, and real-world impact.
- It Reframes Activism: You don't need to be a politician or run an international non-profit to make a difference. The film highlights everyday "do-gooders"—teachers, neighbors, local organizers—demonstrating how accessible civic engagement can be.
- It Sparks Honest Dialogue: The movie is specifically designed as a conversational catalyst. Watching it in a room full of neighbors gives you a shared starting point to talk openly about what’s happening in our own region and how we can support each other.
