Lightfest transforms Carlow Town into a dazzling winter wonderland where the charm of Christmas unfolds in every twinkling light, every joyful melody, and every festive aroma wafting through the air.

Families can explore a new, enchanting funfair area, filled with rides and attractions for the little ones, while parents enjoy the festive stalls brimming with delicious treats and unique holiday gifts. This year’s entertainment lineup is packed with stellar live music, joyful dance performances, and DJ-hosted sing-alongs that’ll have the whole family tapping their feet.

The evening culminates with the awe-inspiring arrival of Santa Claus, who’s making a special stop just for Lightfest, followed by a breathtaking fireworks show that will light up the sky and create unforgettable memories. Lightfest isn’t just an event; it’s a three-hour journey of family joy, holiday spirit, and festive cheer that promises to kick-start your Christmas season in the most enchanting way possible.

Event Highlights:

• Music & Entertainment: The evening features a stellar lineup of performers! Groove to live tunes from some of the best local talents:
• • Carlow Ukulele Band at 3:40 p.m., warming up the crowd with joyful tunes.
  • Monroe, the beloved local band, takes the stage at 4:00 p.m. for a set full of lively holiday and classic songs, guaranteed to get everyone singing along.
  • R.W.D. (Róisín Whelan Dance) at 4:50 p.m., presenting Catch Me, a specially commissioned short performance brought to life by Carlow County Council.
  • Allie Sherlock live at 5:00 p.m.! Allie, renowned for her soulful voice and incredible street performances, brings a heartfelt energy you won’t want to miss. Her performance will be a festive treat and one of the evening's highlights!
• DJ Matt: Our own DJ Matt will be spinning holiday classics and popular hits at 6:00 p.m., amping up the festive spirit and keeping the energy high as the countdown to fireworks begins. Plus, he’s the Master of Ceremonies for the night, ensuring a seamless and joyful celebration for everyone!
• Santa Claus & Fireworks Spectacular: The magic peaks at 6:10 p.m. as Santa himself arrives on stage, accompanied by a breathtaking professional fireworks display to light up the night. Cllr. Fintan Phelan will be joining Santa on stage to welcome everyone to the holiday season.
• Festive Food & Drink: Satisfy your taste buds with a delightful selection of food and drink stalls, offering everything from savory holiday dishes to indulgent sweet treats. There’s something delicious for everyone to enjoy.
• Funfair & Market: New to Lightfest this year, a funfair area for young children and even more stalls with festive goods. This adds to the magic of the evening, creating a fun, family-friendly environment where holiday memories are waiting to be made.

Best of all—admission is free! Yes, entry to this enchanting Christmas event is complimentary, but advanced booking is required to secure your spot.
