Light Maker, Light Hunter: A Fujifilm GFX Experience with Fujifilm Pro, Christopher Berry

Light Maker, Light Hunter is a hands-on, high-visibility workshop designed to take you from the predictability of controlled studio light into the dynamic uncertainty of real-world environments while showing you how to carry your confidence with you.

The complete workshop experience spans two days, each offering distinct, hands-on learning opportunities. Attendance for both days is optional, allowing you to tailor the experience to your interests, much like a “Create-Your-Own-Adventure.” While some concepts from the first day may be revisited on the second, choosing to attend only one day will not limit your learning.

The Photowalk –

While this event is co-hosted with Fujifilm, all brands and cameras are welcome.

The studio gives you control. The street gives you everything else. Light Hunter is the natural continuation of what begins on the classroom floor – a guided photowalk that puts your newly built instincts to work in the one environment you can never fully control: the real world.

Equipped with portable speedlights, compact battery-powered strobes, and lightweight modifiers, participants will move through the environment surrounding Dodd Camera, applying the same layered lighting logic practiced indoors to storefronts, open shade, mixed artificial light, and whatever the city decides to offer that day.

Each stop on the walk is designed around one of the lighting scenarios covered from the previous day’s studio session, giving you a direct bridge between the controlled setup and the uncontrolled moment. Christopher will be available to help you adapt, problem-solve, and push your creativity further.

Whether you’re chasing a shaft of late afternoon light down an alley or building a two-speedlight portrait against a brick wall, the goal is the same: leave nothing to luck and find the image inside the light that’s already there.
