Light & Liberty Shabbat

LIBERTY & LIGHT: AN AMERICAN SHABBAT
As the sun sets over Miami Beach on the eve of America’s 250th birthday, we will gather in the sacred rhythm of Shabbat—a pause for gratitude, reflection, and hope.
This year, Independence Day arrives alongside Parashat Pinchas, a Torah portion that speaks of legacy and the passing of responsibility from one generation to the next. Moses, standing at the edge of a new chapter, asks not what he will leave behind, but who will carry the story forward.
Two hundred and fifty years ago, a young nation began its journey. For generations, America has offered countless people—including Jewish immigrants seeking freedom, opportunity, and belonging—a place to build lives, families, and communities.
As Jews, we know that freedom is never merely a destination. It is a sacred trust. We inherit it, cherish it, strengthen it, and pass it on.
On this special Shabbat, we will celebrate the blessings of liberty and the light of our tradition. We will lift our voices in prayer and song, give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy, and reflect on the values that unite us: faith, justice, compassion, and community.
Join us for an evening of warmth, music, friendship, and a festive Oneg as we honor both the American story and the enduring Jewish journey.

May the light of Shabbat inspire us to be worthy stewards of the freedoms we have inherited and faithful builders of the future we will leave to those who come after us.
All are welcome.
