About this Event
The Société philharmonique du Nouveau Monde (SPNM) presents a major concert bringing together more than 150 choristers under the direction of Michel Brousseau.
Program: The concert opens with the discovery of a young up-and-coming talent, pianist Takashi New, who will perform the first movement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, known as the “Emperor,” offering a first glimpse of this young artists' virtuosity and sensitivity.
Next, John Rutter's magnificent Requiem for choir and orchestra. In the words of the composer, it is a Requiem that is “more intimate than majestic, more contemplative and lyrical than dramatic, more comforting than sombre, more accessible than elitist,” a moving work that will touch everyone's hearts.
Added to this is Martín Palmeri's Misatango, where sacred fervor blends with the captivating rhythms of tango. This Latin mass, enhanced by the choir, orchestra, piano, bandoneon, and soloist's voice, offers a unique musical experience and will allow you to rediscover sacred music as you have never heard it before.
