Join Jeffersonville Township Public Library and a trio of local historians to learn more about our area's exciting role in the American Revolution!People often think of history as something that happened somewhere else, but Southern Indiana was a pivotal part of the battle for America's frontier lands. Activities will include a screening of a clip from The American Revolution by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt followed by a panel discussion.
Our panelists include Frank Doughman, former superintendent of George Rogers Clark National Historic Park in Vincennes, Indiana; Glenda Ferguson, local historian and expert on Indiana's Bison Trail; and Karen Schwartz, local historian and genealogist who has investigated the Harrison family. Topics of discussion include the hardships faced by ordinary Revolutionary soldiers on the frontier, travel conditions on the frontier, and the members of the Harrison family who led the creation of Indiana.
Questions and period costume are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
