The course is aimed at adults of any age, both beginners and the more advanced, who want to directly work from a human model or still life.
There will be a human model for most of the sessions, performing very short, short, and long poses giving the students a chance to practice drawing at various speeds. We also will make use of still life and/or sculpture as well as printed pictures to practice on specific skills.
The main method that is taught and practiced in the course is the traditional “stick measurement” and “sight-size drawing method”. However, the following topics will be covered throughout the course:
- The sight-size method versus the comparative method of drawing
- Using alignments, angles, relative proportions, and cross points in figure drawing
- Postural drawing and quick drawing
- Human body proportions
- Shades and values
- Foreshortening
- Using a grid
- Using a proportional divider
