Life Beyond The Haraam
About this Event
I’m a British Muslim writer and award‑winning activist, known for early reality‑TV work and later media advocacy for LGBT+ equality. Life Beyond The Haraam is a memoir about childhood, family expectations, and growing up gay in a cultural environment shaped by rules and silence. This reading shares early extracts to show how the work lands with listeners, and invites attendees to complete a short feedback sheet at the end.
This is a free event. We won’t be providing refreshments, but the foodhall has independent kiosks offering plenty of meals and snacks. Attendees are encouraged to pick up something to eat or drink while they’re here; it supports the vendors and the venue, and helps keep the space thriving.
