Join us for a screening of the award-winning documentary Life After, followed by a community discussion.

Directed by disabled filmmaker Reid Davenport, Life After is a gripping investigative documentary that exposes the moral dilemmas and profit motives surrounding assisted dying. Through personal stories and investigative reporting, the film uncovers abuses of power while amplifying the voices of disabled people who are fighting for justice, dignity, and the right to live in a society that too often treats disability as a burden rather than a life worth supporting.

The film revisits the story of Elizabeth Bouvia, whose widely publicized legal fight for the "right to die" shaped national conversations in the 1980s. Davenport's investigation reveals a much more complicated story—one rooted not simply in disability, but in poverty, bureaucracy, institutionalization, and a society that repeatedly failed to provide the supports needed to live with dignity.

Life After challenges audiences to ask difficult questions:

• What choices do people really have when adequate housing, healthcare, home care, and economic security are denied?
• Why are disabled people so often offered death before they're offered the support they need to live?
• What would it look like to build a society that values disabled lives instead of treating them as expendable?
