About this Event

In collaboration with Healthy Start of Northeast Florida’s Magnolia Project, UF Health Jacksonville is embarking on a new initiative; Life’s Course – The Load, The Impact. Healthy Start Coalition of NEFL, Magnolia Project, other organizations and UF Health Jacksonville’s maternal health team have and continue to work with women across the community to address the rates of mortality. Unfortunately, there is room for more opportunities to connect, create relationships and share resources.
Please join us as we strive to (1) increase awareness of the impact of toxic stress (2) share trends in infant/maternal mortality and (3) help women identify coping mechanisms to fight the impacts of stress on health and well-being.
The event includes a screening of “Toxic: A Black Woman’s Story.” The story focuses on “Nina,” an African American woman in her second trimester of pregnancy. Following the film, physicians, other clinical providers and patients will share their experience, knowledge and resources, all in an effort to empower woman and their village to decrease the impact of stress on women, prior to and during pregnancy.
Attendees will enjoy fellowship with each other and the presenters. Blood pressure screening and limited number of blood pressure machines, weight scales and pregnancy bands will be distributed.
