Library Ghosts: the Afterlives of Destroyed Libraries

Through history, libraries have been destroyed--by fire, flood, war and neglect. Yet if the physical building or even part of the collection is gone, the library, as fragments or concept, often carries on in some form. These library 'ghosts' often have surprising afterlives which speak to the resilience of these institutions, the love of their users, and the importance libraries in our society.
