Liam Vincent and The Odd Foxes were born out of a shared interest in writing songs about the modern world and the effects it has on us and us on it. With a line-up consisting of established musicians from across the UK’s folk and rock scene, it’s no surprise that this dynamic and experienced live band are making friends wherever they go.The band play a style of explosive, infectious folk rock that leaves you feeling both uplifted & emotional, while wanting more. On the surface, much of their music comes across as bouncy and joyous, but it's only when you dive into the lyrics that you see that these are songs that show huge dissatisfaction with some of the aspects of the world we find ourselves living in in the 21st Century. Their influences are quite clear. There’s a lot of Levellers, Waterboys, Saw Doctors in their mix but also a deal of more traditional Irish music too.
There is a sense of purpose if not outright anger that fuels the heart and power of their songs. This is a band which self identifies as ‘a collective of ideas, dreams and social conscience’ and listening to them, you'll probably feel like dancing until the music stops & then going straight off & using the dynamics of your high to help put something right.
Their debut album. Fabric Of A Flawed Society’, has been getting rave reviews. “This is an album I'm sure the band is very proud at having created; they certainly ought to be. "Not a weak track on there, and any band who can create this many original songs each of which stimulates the mind, the heart & the feet is thoroughly deserving of success.” – Hot Music Live “A terrific debut album… folk rock, politics and emotion delivered with a heavy hand. Liam Vincent and the Odd Foxes are a band going places.” – FATEA .”A brilliant debut album, full of power, passion and something to say. This is definitely a band to keep an eye on.” – Stuart Green, Folk Club Radio
However, it is in the live arena where the band really excel, with a quality of musicianship that is second to none, playing captivating music that delivers a message. When the drums kick in and the mandolin and fiddle weave along behind the guitars, creating the driving rhythm that typifies the band's sound, you won’t be able to resist tapping your feet or getting up to dance.
Tickets for this fine show cost £14.00 each and are available online at www.wmwcranbrook.co.uk or in person at Larkins' Alehouse, High Street, Cranbrook (cash only please).
