About this Event

LHYAC FALL 2026 WORKSHOP SESSION

October 19 - Ongoing

Community Choir

Join us as we launch LHYAC’s Community Choir, a new workshop designed to build the foundation for a vibrant, multi-generational, year-round community choir at Lincoln Heights Youth Arts Center!

During this workshop, participants will explore the fundamentals of Choir singing, including ensemble building, vocal technique, listening, group dynamics, and what it means to create music together as a choir. As the group develops, we’ll begin building on these fundamentals and preparing our first repertoire as the LHYAC Community Choir.

Our work will lead toward our first public performance at the 21st annual Lincoln Heights Holiday Parade and Festival in December, giving participants the opportunity to share what they’ve created with the community.

But this is just the beginning - our goal is to establish a year-round community choir that continues to grow, perform, and bring people together through the power of vocal music for years to come. Whether you’re an experienced singer or simply excited to try something new, we welcome you to embark on this journey with us. Come be part of building something special at LHYAC!

This workshop is designed for students ages 8 - adult. No previous choir experience is required. All voices and experience levels are welcome!

The Community Choir is taught by LHYAC Teaching Artist, Matthew Noah (Mr. Matt) with backing tracks and music arrangement assistance by LHYAC Teaching Artist, Gabrielle Maldonado (Ms. Gabi). An adult support staff assistant will also be present to help ensure the best experience possible for everyone.
