L'Hexagone: Classic French Wines

L'Hexagone is the affectionate French nickname for the roughly approximate shape of La France on a map, and tonight we will venture to every corner in search of the classics.

From Bordeaux to Burgundy and everywhere in between, France sets the pace that the rest of the world has to match when it comes to top fizz, elegant white wines and long-lived, ethereal red wines.

Sometimes it pays to return to the roots and taste some of the classic 'international' varieties in their ancestral homes, including textbook Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, as well as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier amongst others. Innovation can be found in even the most staunchly traditional appellations, and often this is where the most compelling wines of today can be sniffed out, carrying in them a deft balance of old-school nous and modern flourish.

Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
