A celebration of queer lives, resistance, and rebellion through a sapphic film that challenges conventions and expands the cinematic canon.
About this Event

LFS Study Hall is a deep-dive screening series grounded in criticism, analysis, history, and mythology, exploring films not just as standalone works, but as cultural artifacts that reflect the worlds they were made in. 🎞️📖

This June, come join us for BE GAY, DO CRIME: a Pride Month series celebrating sapphic stories, community, and visibility on screen. 👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏻 Through 4 films spanning two decades of film history, we'll trace the evolution of sapphic representation in cinema while exploring themes of identity, desire, resistance, self-expression, and the many ways queer people have carved out (and continue to carve out) space for themselves. ✨

Each screening will examine not only the film itself, but also the cultural and historical context that shaped its portrayal of queer women, offering a broader look at how sapphic stories have been represented on screen across time.

This series is programmed and presented by LFS Board Members Andrea Ortiz and Victoria Sandoval! Happening every THURSDAY in June. Join us for a month of films, conversation, and community as we celebrate sapphic stories and visibility in film. All are welcome. 💖🎞️🏳️‍🌈
🚪Doors at 7 pm
🎥 Start at 8 pm

(Attend all 4 screenings and you'll be entered into a raffle for free tickets to the NEXT Study Hall series in September!)
