Level Three Improv: Digging Deeper Into Scenes

In this seven week class, students will focus on creating emotion and relationship-driven scenes, digging deeper into what matters most to the characters and the audience. Students will practice listening to not only what is said but how things are said, using emotional reactions to raise the stakes and move the scene forward. Throughout the class, students will practice effectively editing scenes at their high point to create a show that builds from suggestion to blackout. This class culminates in a student showcase performance of the Montage. The prerequisite for this class is Level Two Improv at Stomping Ground Comedy Theater.

• Deep Listening and Emotions In Scenes
• Using the Environment to Dig Deeper into Scenes
• Finding Patterns and Heightening the Fun Thing
• Dynamics of Group Scenes
• Raising the Stakes and Making Scenes Matter (When they Don’t)
• Performing the Show

Seven weeks, starting October 18 (this class skips 11/22 for Thanksgiving break)
