This hands-on workshop goes beyond basic wiring and into how electricians think, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
You’ll wire complete circuits, test them with a multimeter, identify potential problems, and observe how systems behave once energized—all under controlled, instructor-supervised conditions.
This class introduces live testing concepts (demonstrated by the instructor) while students practice proper testing and verification techniques prior to energization.
Level One Electrical Basics is required prior to registering for the Level Two workshop — this workshop includes live demonstrations and supervised hands-on practice using professional equipment.
By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to:
âś…Wire and test a three-way lighting circuit with confidence
âś…Install and connect recessed light fixtures correctly
âś…Wire a GFCI receptacle and protect downstream outlets
âś…Identify and correct common wiring errors before power is restored
âś…Use a multimeter to verify safe conditions and diagnose problems
âś…Understand how breakers, GFCIs, and lighting respond to faults
âś…Apply code concepts related to grounding, box fill, conductor size, and breaker selection
Each participant will work at their own dedicated practice station, wiring and testing devices using real materials and professional methods.
You’ll learn to:
- Pull and prepare cable properly
- Terminate switches, outlets, and lighting fixtures
- Identify traveler wires and neutral paths
- Test circuits thoroughly before energizing
- Interpret device behavior and troubleshoot issues
Safety First
Safety is non-negotiable. This workshop emphasizes the professional safety procedures electricians rely on every day, including:
- Lockout/tagout demonstrations
- Proper PPE and safe work habits
- How to verify circuits are de-energized
- How electricians test before and after energizing
All live power demonstrations are handled by the instructor after full safety verification.
Why Take This Class
Electrical problems don’t always announce themselves clearly. This workshop teaches you how to test, verify, and think through electrical work safely, so you know when a task is within your ability — and when it’s time to call a licensed electrician.
Level 1 builds foundational understanding of residential electrical systems; Level 2 advances those skills through hands-on wiring, testing, and real-world troubleshooting.
