Date: Saturday 22nd August 2026
Time: 10.00am – 4.00pm
Location: Carmelite Community Centre, Aungier Street, Dublin 2
Cost: €180
About the Workshop
This one-day intensive workshop builds on the foundations of Level 1 and focuses on developing conversational spoken English.
We look at the key elements needed to sound like a fluent English speaker. Correct pronunciation on its own is not enough. You also need to understand how to use connected speech, word stress, and emphasis within sentences, as well as pitch and intonation.
Unlike many other languages, English does not give equal weight to every word in a sentence. Instead, we naturally stress the most important words. Learning how to do this correctly has a significant impact on how natural and clear your speech sounds.
All of these techniques are put into practice through scripts, poems, and conversational exercises. We use Irish scripts from Father Ted, allowing you to continue practising at home in a way that is both engaging and practical.
What You Will Learn
Recap of single, double, and triple vowel sounds, along with consonant sounds
Connected speech, how one word influences the next
Rhythm
Word stress
Intonation
Practical application through scripts, poems, and monologues
Accent reduction techniques
Workshop Structure
This is a highly interactive day, combining guided exercises, listening work, and speaking practice in a supportive environment.
Participants will have the opportunity to practise throughout the day and receive feedback to help refine their pronunciation and fluency.
