This is the first residents meeting for the Holyoke Community Safety Coalition. We’re neighbors coming together to make our community safer, and we’re doing it step by step so things actually get done. One issue at a time, one meeting at a time, no chaos, no confusion.
This first meeting is all about lighting and visibility. The dark spots in our neighborhoods. The alleyways that need lights. The back porches and rear areas of buildings that stay pitch black. The streets and sidewalks where people don’t feel safe walking at night. We’re starting with the basics because lighting is one of the biggest things residents keep bringing up.
We’ll start by explaining who we are and why this coalition was formed. Then we’re opening the floor for residents to talk about the areas that need attention. We want to hear the concerns directly from the people who live here. We’ll be writing down specific locations, talking through what’s going on, and figuring out what needs to be addressed first.
This group stands for community voice, real action, and respect. Everyone gets a say. Everyone’s concerns matter. We’re not trying to fix the whole city in one night. We’re building this the right way, with residents leading the conversation and setting the priorities.
If you live in Holyoke, if you rent here, own here, work here, or you just care about the safety of this community, you’re welcome. The goal of this first meeting is simple: hear the concerns, identify the problem areas, and start a clear plan for improving lighting and safety in our neighborhoods.
