Sullivan Pottery is thrilled to welcome back acclaimed artist Nan Jacobsohn for an unforgettable two-day workshop on expressive figurative sculpture!
Whether you’re brand new to sculpting or a seasoned artist, Nan’s guidance will inspire and challenge you to bring clay to life in ways you never thought possible. With her warm teaching style and wealth of expertise, she’ll help you confidently explore the human face—capturing not only its form, but its emotion and spirit.
In this immersive workshop, you’ll discover how facial features transform through the stages of life, from childhood to old age, and learn to portray a wide range of emotions with clay. You may choose to work from photographs of someone meaningful to you, or draw inspiration from fellow participants. Along the way, Nan will cover essential techniques such as hollowing, finishing, and adding textures that enhance expression.
