LET'S TALK: Women's Personal Safety

Your safety matters. Every woman deserves to feel informed, prepared, and confident.

Whether you're commuting to work, attending college, traveling alone, or simply going about your daily routine, personal safety is something every woman thinks about. While Philadelphia has seen encouraging declines in overall violent crime in recent years, women continue to face unique safety concerns, including harassment, stalking, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence.

According to the City of Philadelphia's Office of Domestic Violence Strategies:

• 1 in 3 women in the United States will experience domestic violence during their lifetime.
• 24% of Philadelphia residents surveyed said they have been affected by domestic violence or know someone who has.
• In Philadelphia, 31% of pregnancy associated deaths between 2018 and 2022 involved a known history of intimate partner violence.

These statistics are more than numbers. They represent mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

That's why ITAVFoundation, in partnership with Prime Legacy Security, is bringing women together for an afternoon focused on awareness, education, and practical safety strategies.

This is not a self defense class.

It's an opportunity to have honest conversations about personal safety, learn how to recognize potentially dangerous situations, understand the importance of awareness and decision making, and gain practical tools that can help reduce risk in everyday life.

Whether you're a college student, young professional, mother, caregiver, or simply want to feel more confident navigating your community, you'll leave with knowledge that can help you make informed decisions for yourself and your loved ones.
