Substance abuse among youth can lead to problems at school, cause or aggravate physical and mental health-related issues, promote poor peer relationships, cause motor-vehicle accidents, and place stress on the family. They can also develop into lifelong issues such as substance dependence, chronic health problems, and social and financial consequences.
COSA's "Let's Talk Prevention" session is to help parents learn how to start the conversation with their teen(s) about alcohol and drugs. Former NBA players will be on hand to share their experiences and encourage parents to understand that "words can change everything."
