Integrating, approaching, talking, and sharing on multiple facets relating to death - and life - with creative processing.The workshop will begin with a facilitated interactive collaborative conversation using the Death Conversation Game. Afterward, we'll move into an open multi-media collage time, where one can create in any way one sees fit: bring tools and materials you prefer collaging with (no oils or stinky pens please!) or use the materials provided.
A suggested theme is to create a postcard (or two) to send to someone you love in appreciation of life and/or bring images relating to death that inspire curiosity, to integrate/explore reimagining through art making.
This is co-created space for exploring ideas, sharing, and listening - as it is, in the moment - whether you’re new or returning to the conversation or art making!
Materials Provided
-Watercolour postcard sheets (2 per person) - bring more if you like!
-Glue sticks
-Some magazines/images
-Pastels
-Pencil Crayons
-Scissors
*Please bring along anything you like working with and/or would like to add to the pile of materials for others to work with - magazines, photographs, watercolours, acrylics, etc.

Facilitator’s Bio
I explore the spaces inherently found correlating within certain dichotomies (self/other, temporal/timeless, truth/fiction, right/wrong). Resultantly, my praxis focuses on the inner and outer connections that can be made pushing at the edges of the barriers surrounding ‘sticky’ subjects (such as trauma, identity, love and death).
For the past 16 years, I’ve been integrating my life and work with social practice and community engagement, mostly through the use of interactive performance, photography, video, mixed media, and sound. To exemplify this, What Is Love (2016) investigates individual understandings and experiences of the word ‘love’, Mirrorface (2010) examines micro-expressions portraying ideas of strength in search of autonomous belonging, It's a Sign (2013) depicts relics of colonial capitalism’s imprint on nature, HIT ME (2019) exposes gendered narratives found in the lyrics of many popular songs, and I created Death Conversation Game (2019-present), a tool to help facilitate open conversations on death.
Born on The Farm in Tennessee, I was raised in Ontario and Zimbabwe, and currently reside on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and Sel̓íl̓witulh Nations (Vancouver).
I (she/they) work from an intersectional feminist perspective valuing equity, inclusive of all genders, sexual orientations, dis/abilities, races, religions, and classes.
