LET'S MAKE ZINES
About this Event
We hear you asking: what are zines and why should you want to make one? Zines are small-batch DIY booklets that can feature anything: poetry, drawings, diatribes, stories, political manifestos, music recommendations, book reviews, etc. Join Bookends & Beginning’s very own Bookseller/Zine-maker Lou Smith to learn about and create zines in a chill, crafty environment.
That’s right, not only will you get to learn about the history of zines and their uses in underground social and political movements, but you will also be able to create one and leave with your very own zine!
Come with ideas or get inspiration from your fellow crafters. Bring collage paper and craft materials or use materials we already have on-hand. The only thing you NEED to bring is yourself. This low-pressure workshop is intended to be a one-stop shop of everything you need to know about zines to start making your own anytime you want!
About Lou: Lou Smith is an artist, poet, and Bookseller at B&B with degrees in Theatre and Creative Writing. She is mainly a performance artist, but has been an avid zine-maker since 2024. Lou sells their work online and is currently running a monthly zine mailing list, “Sorry it’s Not a Substack”.
This is a pay-what you-can workshop, with a suggested donation of $10 (taken at the door)
