Let's Hike the KU Field Station Trails

Join Compass Point home of Dirty Girl Adventures for some time on the trail! We'll hike all of the KU Field Station trails together! There are about 5 miles of trail here with some great views and varied terrain. We will visit the Rockefeller Prairie and the Fitch Natural History Reservation as part of this hike. There is some paved trail here, but the majority of the trail surface is uneven and features some steep inclines and declines. We will plan to hike 5 miles but should you wish to hike a shorter distance we will be able to show you the short cut out at about 3 miles. This location is north of Lawrence, specific directions will be emailed on Friday. We will park at the RothTrailhead and loop back to end there.

Dirty Dudes and Dirty teens are invited on this event. No dogs allowed for this event - the Field Station doesn't allow dogs due to research.

When: Saturday, May 10th

Check-in: 1pm

Wear/Bring: Water, snacks, Dress in layers, wear sturdy shoes/boots with traction, hat, water, snacks, trekking poles.

What: Hike about 5 miles… we'll feel the fresh air, see the sights, meet new friends!

What are you paying for? Dirty Girl Adventures, LLC will organize the event, provide a guide, support on the trail and docent information throughout the event. We will monitor the weather and conditions to ensure that our event and participants are safe. Our knowledgeable and informed guide service includes a leading guide and a sweep guide during the hike. Trail support including: first aid, knowledge of the environment and locale, safety monitoring, pacing, interpretive information on the environment and location.

In case you are wondering about our refund policy – refunds are given up to two weeks before the date of the event only when the refund is requested in an email directed to [email protected]. After that, there are no refunds. Dirty Girl Adventures may cancel an event due to weather or conditions. Everyone will receive a refund if that is the reason for the cancellation. We will paddle and hike in cool, rainy or snowy conditions. Cancellation only occurs in severe weather or other dangerous conditions.
