About this Event

Presented by Britt Hawthorne and Montessori Northwest.

Join us for an in-person* event: Saturday, December 14, 2024 9:00-3:30 PST

*Limited capacity event

When we commit to collectively discussing fairness, equality, and justice with young children, we begin to envision a world in which not only children but all people are treated with dignity, free from the burden of unfair assumptions based on a single characteristic. It becomes a world where we actively challenge racism and bias every day.

This in-person workshop will dismantle the color-blind assumption and prepare children to work toward justice. This presentation shares concrete ways Montessori guides and classroom educators can support their learners' developing racial, ethnic, and physical identities. Educators will learn how to empower learners, affirm their numerous identities, and challenge pre-prejudice.

Anti-bias Education in Montessori is suitable for primary guides (3-6 year-olds) and elementary guides (6-12 years old) who are beginning to implement the anti-bias education framework.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're ready to take action, please sign up for on Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 9:00-3:30 PST.

Join us for a highly interactive and hands-on day. Britt Hawthorne will guide you through three key topics: preparing the environment for self-love and diversity, responding to racial slurs and harm, and creating your own Montessori materials concentrated on ABAR.

This session is perfect for Montessorians who have taken Let's Get Started: Anti-bias Education in Montessori and are ready to implement it.

See more details for Day 2 here.

You can attend both workshops or just one workshop. If you are attending both days, please register separately for each day.
