Let Your Soul Sing: A Terra Sol Song Circle

Singing is our birthright – in fact, some anthropologists believe that humans sang to communicate before we had spoken language. Yet, singing is often categorized into something only “the talented” are supposed to do. Let’s unlearn that together and reclaim song as a tool for community-building, self care, reflection, and fun!
In this circle, I share songs by beginning with their lyrics, then teaching the songs with drum, harmonium, or a cappella (without instruments) through call-and-echo, gradually building as we go. We repeat them several times to let the words & sound sink in. There is space for breath, gentle movement, poetry, and reflection during our time together.
Our songs focus on themes like love, kinship with the Earth, and self-compassion — little pocket songs we carry to encourage & comfort ourselves and each other. Kelley Doyle is a songcarrier rooted in Richmond, Virginia. Her parents live near Castle Street, and she loves to visit Terra Sol when she is in town! Kelley leads a monthly circle and other singing gatherings through a donation-based yoga & wellness center in Richmond. She believes that the voice is a potent channel to the heart, connecting us to the sacred love dwelling in all of us. She can't wait to sing with you!
