Cedar Valley Catholic Schools families and staff are invited to join us on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 6pm in the Oppold Gymnasium at Columbus Catholic High School for LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE: THE ULTIMATE PEP RALLY!Doors will open at 5:15pm for the activity fair, program will begin and 6:00pm, and tours of Columbus will follow!
We will celebrate ALL of the students and staff of Blessed Maria Assunta Pallotta Middle School and Columbus Catholic High School! At this special biannual event, we will spotlight the accomplishment of our students and staff in the areas of faith, athletics, arts, academics, and leadership! The evening includes a special performance from the Columbus Dance Team and the Columbus Staff!
Our keynote speaker for the evening is 1982 Columbus Alum and 2021 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee, Stewart Carter. Stewart graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in 1982. During high school, he succeeded both as an athlete and a student. His high school wrestling career record was 89-11. He qualified for the state wrestling tournament 4 times--finishing 3rd as a sophomore in 1980, 3rd as a junior in 1981, and 2nd as a senior in 1982. In 1979, Stewart was the state freestyle champion at 99 pounds. After graduation, Stewart attended Iowa State University and competed with the Cyclone wrestling team for four years. In 1987, he won the Big Eight Championship and NCAA National Championship at 158 pounds. That same year, he was named the Iowa State Athlete of the Year. Stewart was inducted into the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2011. We are excited to welcome Stuart back to share his story with our school community!
