Let Me Be Myself: The Life Story of Anne Frank Exhibition
About this Event
The Life Story of Anne Frank
Anne Frank was born on 12 June 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany. When the Nazis came to power in 1933, her family fled to the Netherlands seeking safety and freedom. They hoped to live in peace, but as the war spread, life for Jews became increasingly dangerous.
In July 1942, Anne and her family went into hiding in a secret annex in Amsterdam. For more than two years, they lived in silence and seclusion, hidden from occupying forces.
During that time, Anne kept a diary. In it, she wrote about her thoughts, her feelings, and her dreams. Her words give us a powerful and personal glimpse into her world.
In August 1944, the family was discovered and arrested. Anne was deported to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where she died in March 1945, just weeks before the camp was liberated.
