The Downtown Sykesville Connection is hosting its seventh annual “Let Freedom Ring Parade” on Saturday, June, 28 2025.
The Let Freedom Ring parade will start at 10 AM, beginning at Sykesville Middle School and proceeding down Springfield Avenue and the length of Historic Main Street, with floats and vehicles accompanying the approximately 35 participants marching in units and organized groups.
Parade floats will be judged, and awards for floats will be announced after the parade. The parade should be over just in time for lunch and ice cream downtown Sykesville.
Bring the whole family and celebrate America’s birthday, Sykesville-style!

The winner will take home a $500 cash prize!

Parade Rules and Regulations Below
1. Parade formation will be at the Sykesville Middle School parking lot.
2. Please follow instructions from the DSC staff and Police Officer on duty. DSC Staff will be wearing bright yellow staff vests and will help you find your location in the line-up and answer any questions you may have.
3. Only Parade vehicles will be allowed beyond the drop-off point. Parade vehicles should arrive between 8:00 am-9:30 am Walkers and riders must be dropped off, with adult supervision if necessary, at the formation area. PLEASE NOTE: There is no parking at the formation area. Buses should pull into the bus loading zone circle to unload.
4. The parade will leave the formation area at 10 am and will progress down Springfield Avenue, to the left on Main Street, and continue through town.
5. Any group not ready to enter the formation when called upon will be moved to the rear of the parade.
6. It will be necessary for all groups to move forward as promptly as possible. Performance in front of the judging stand (on Main Street at Gazebo in front of the Town House) will be limited to 2 minutes. Committee members will be along the parade route to ensure that the parade moves forward promptly. Failure to comply could result in disqualification in any judging and participation in future parades.
7. Float entries will be judged on creativity, community, best presentation of parade theme, etc. Have fun!: YOUR FLOAT WILL BE A DIRECT REPRESENTATION OF THE TOWN … BE PROUD TO REPRESENT YOUR TOWN AND HAVE A BEAUTIFUL AND WELL-PRESENTED FLOAT.
8. Handouts of any kind (fliers, signs, buttons, etc.) from anyone within the parade are strictly prohibited unless attached to something of value (wrapped candy, pencil, etc.).
9. Throwing candy is not permitted. Treats and other promo items may be handed out along the parade route.
10. Animal units must provide manure clean-up. All animals must be crowd-friendly and easily adaptable to loud noises.
11. No applications deemed political in nature will be accepted.

The Downtown Sykesville Connection is a non-profit corporation. It is not a governmental entity. As such, it reserves the right to limit participant applications. Criteria include, but are not limited to, numbers/sizes of applications, theme/content of applications, and appropriateness of vendor to the event.
This event will be held rain or shine.
A lineup of the parade will be provided a week prior to the event.
The Downtown Sykesville Connection (DSC) is a 501(c)3 focused on enhancing the quality of life in downtown Sykesville. The DSC recognizes the Town of Sykesville as its partner for all events and programs.
